Acupuncture, one of the most well-known therapies from Traditional Chinese Medicine, has been used for centuries to balance the body’s flow of chi (vital force energy). This natural treatment is a safe and effective way to heal the body, restore optimal health, and promote overall wellness without the need for prescription medications or invasive procedures.
Acupuncture can help with a variety of concerns, including pain, sleep, digestion, and more. The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes acupuncture as beneficial for conditions such as headaches, back pain, asthma, sinus congestion, and more.

In mind-body treatment, you play an active role as a teammate in your healing journey. The first step is cultivating self-awareness of your thought patterns, emotions, habits, and physical symptoms. With mind-body therapies, you’ll gain home exercises to reinforce what you’ve learned. Thanks to neuroplasticity, the brain can adapt—allowing you to replace negative thought patterns and habits with healthier alternatives. Like mastering any new skill, this process requires practice, persistence, and patience. Above all, be kind to yourself.
Our mind-body medicine packages take a comprehensive approach, often including breathing techniques, meditation, tai chi, yoga, mindfulness training, insight-oriented counseling, biofeedback, and neurofeedback therapies. Biofeedback is especially transformative, teaching you to monitor and improve your health by interpreting your body’s signals. It may even help you gain control over traditionally automatic physical processes.

About Dr. Joyce Knieff
I’m Dr. Joyce Knieff, and I’m a Naturopathic Doctor, Acupuncturist, and Biofeedback Therapist. I specialize in helping people who suffer from autoimmune conditions, mental health problems, and chronic pain, who want to feel better, more alive, and live their lives fuller and unlimited by the conditions they’re diagnosed with.
I graduated from Bastyr University with a dual degree in Naturopathic Medicine and Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine. Although I was trained in Biofeedback at Bastyr, I am further pursuing a certification as a Clinical Biofeedback practitioner through the mentorship of Dr. Brad Lichtenstein. I also received a certificate in Tensegrity Medicine from the Northwest School of Structural Medicine and practice Visceral Manipulation as trained through the Barral Institute.
In my clinical work, I believe going back to the basics of health is one of the most important keys to treating disease. It is likely that one chronic illness in this snapshot in time has its roots far back in time, spanning multiple areas such as environment, diet, past traumas, current stresses and living situations. In coming to see me, you will likely see me practice in a two-part way. We’ll come up with a plan together so that you can feel better in the short term (which can involve supplements, herbs, and bodywork), while also developing a long-term plan to help treat the cause of your condition (involving breathwork, constitutional therapies such as acupuncture and hydrotherapy, and diet and lifestyle coaching).
If you’d like to get to know me better as a person (this is an “about me,” after all!), I enjoy the outdoor camping and hiking scene just as much as the next person, but you’ll probably also find me nerding out to the latest video games or new season anime. And since science and medicine are such ever-growing fields, I also have a never-waning interest in fresh facts and new research – ask me about “the fun fact of the day” I’ve learned recently when you come in next! I guarantee I’ll have a never-ending supply.
